Cape Kiwanda is a sandstone headland at Pacific City on the Oregon coast. Haystack Rock stands separately offshore.
In the print, the cape fills the right side with ochre cliffs and a narrow line of conifers. The offshore rock sits to the left across turquoise water, with cream surf lines reaching a broad yellow beach.
What this print shows
I pushed the cape close to the right edge so its sandstone face would feel materially different from the offshore rock. The monolith stays smaller and darker across the water. Repeated foam lines bridge the two masses without becoming a forecast. Buildings, signs, vehicles and people were removed from the beach.
